ELCA Paves the Way for Lactation Medicine in Egypt

A Milestone for Breastfeeding in Egypt: EHA’s Clinical Practice Protocol in Lactation Medicine

The Egyptian Lactation Consultants Association (ELCA) is proud to announce a significant milestone in the field of lactation medicine. In collaboration with the Egyptian Health Authority (EHA), ELCA has finalized the first edition of the Egyptian Clinical Practice Protocol in Lactation Medicine for 2024.

This groundbreaking achievement marks the first time Lactation Medicine has been officially recognized as a subspecialty of Pediatrics in Egypt. This recognition underscores the importance of specialized lactation care and its impact on maternal and infant health. ELCA’s pioneering efforts and the expertise of its members have been instrumental in shaping this historic development.

The new protocol will serve as a comprehensive guideline for healthcare providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based lactation care throughout the country.

This new protocol will also contribute to standardizing practices and improving outcomes for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. It will also contribute to reducing infant mortality rates and promoting optimal infant and young child feeding practices.

ELCA remains committed to advancing the field of lactation medicine and promoting optimal breastfeeding practices through ongoing research, education, and advocacy. Through this landmark achievement, we aim to empower healthcare providers and support mothers in making informed decisions about infant feeding.

We will continue to work with healthcare providers, policymakers, and the public to promote breastfeeding and ensure that all mothers have access to the support and resources they need.
