The Egyptian Version of the World Breastfeeding Week: Closing Ceremony

The first week of August marks the annual celebration of the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW).

As of our annual tradition for the sixth consecutive year,  ELCA celebrated the event with all of the Lactation consultants in Egypt and collaborated with all various organizations and institutions to support, sponsor and actively participate in the events. The initiative, launched under the leadership of Dr. Gihan Fouad, Former Dean of the National Nutrition Institute and ELCA Board member,  covered various provinces and hospitals allover Egypt

“I am incredibly proud of the remarkable impact of our World Breastfeeding Week celebrations this year. The dedication and hard work of our Egyptian IBCLCs have truly made a difference in raising awareness and improving breastfeeding practices across the nation.”

Prof. Gihan Fouad
Head of the Initiative
Former Dean of National Nutrition Institute

The participation of the members of ELCA is renewed as a continuum  to the great success achieved by the events of the WBW campaigns for years. As per our annual tradition, the World Breastfeeding Week Celebration of 2024 lasted way beyond 7 days. This year, the celebration started from the Egyptian Medical Syndicate and included more than 88 scientific days to educate and increase awareness for more than 1242 members of the medical staff and more than 800 mothers from the general community, and covered about 15 provinces in Egypt.

The closing ceremony of the event will be held in the Egyptian Medical Syndicate on Tuesday, February18th 2025.

The event marks the Egyptian IBCLCs efforts and honors their dedication for spreading the knowledge and implementing change all over the country.
