ELCA Honors IBCLC Day 2025 and Amplifies Voices
The Egyptian Lactation Consultants Association (ELCA) proudly celebrated International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Day on the 5th of March 2025, recognizing the invaluable contributions of these highly skilled professionals to maternal and infant health across Egypt.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Day is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of March to acknowledge the expertise and dedication of IBCLCs worldwide. This day, initiated by the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), highlights the crucial role IBCLCs play in supporting breastfeeding families. ELCA is proud to follow the footsteps of ILCA in celebrating this important day and promoting the highest standards of lactation care within Egypt.

This year’s celebration was marked by a vibrant campaign on our official Facebook page, designed to bridge the gap between the public and the crucial work of IBCLCs. We invited lactation consultants from across the nation to share their insights and perspectives by answering the question:
"What is the one thing you want everyone to know about lactation consultants?"
The response was overwhelming, with heartfelt and informative answers pouring in from dedicated IBCLCs. Their words illuminated the multifaceted role of lactation consultants, highlighting their expertise in:
- Providing evidence-based support for breastfeeding mothers.
- Addressing complex breastfeeding challenges and offering tailored solutions.
- Empowering mothers to make informed decisions about infant feeding.
- Advocating for breastfeeding-friendly environments in hospitals and communities.
- Offering compassionate and patient-centered care.

The campaign’s success underscored the importance of raising public awareness about the specialized skills and knowledge that IBCLCs possess. By sharing their voices directly, we aimed to demystify the profession and emphasize the critical role these experts play in promoting optimal infant nutrition and maternal well-being.
