World Breastfeeding Week 2023 Live Coverage

  • July 31, 2023

The first week of August marks the annual celebration of the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW).

As of our annual tradition for the fifth consecutive year,  ELCA celebrates with all of the Lactation consultants in Egypt and collaborates with all various organizations and institutions to support, sponsor and actively participate in the events of the initiative launched by the National Nutrition Institute under the leadership of Dr. Jihan Fouad, Dean of the National Nutrition Institute and ELCA Board member , which covers various provinces and hospitals allover Egypt

ELCA invites healthcare workers interested in breastfeeding to attend the events of the World Breastfeeding Week in Egypt 2023, where the participation of the members of ELCA is renewed as a continuum  to the great success achieved by the events of the WBW campaign last year, which started from the National Nutrition Institute and included more than 40 scientific days to educate and increase awareness for more than 1242 members of the medical staff and more than 800 mothers from the general community, and covered about 15 provinces in Egypt.

This year, the National Nutrition Institute, under the leadership of Dr. Jihan Fouad, and under the auspices of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, under the leadership of Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Abdel Ghaffar, proudly announces the opening of the events of the World Breastfeeding Week 2023.

This year, the WBW’s main theme is  focusing on breastfeeding and employment under the title:

“ENABLING BREASTFEEDING”

“Making a difference for working parents”

This is ultimately important as workplace challenges remain the most common reason for women to never breastfeed or to stop breastfeeding earlier than recommended. Thus protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding addresses inequalities that stand in the way of sustainable development
